Dental Sealant

Shield Your Smile

Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings are carefully applied to the grooves of your chewing surfaces, sealing out plaque and food particles where brushing and flossing may not reach.

Our process is meticulous yet straightforward. After a thorough cleaning, each tooth designated for sealant application is dried. An adhesive is then applied to the enamel, creating a strong bond for the sealant.

We use the latest in dental materials, applying a liquid sealant that quickly hardens under a curing light, forming a smooth, protective layer. This quick and non-invasive procedure is a proactive step in maintaining your dental health.

What are dental sealants?

Dental sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars and premolars) to help prevent tooth decay. Made of plastic resin, sealants are painted onto the pits and grooves of the teeth, forming a barrier that blocks out bacteria and food particles, thus reducing the risk of cavities.

Who can benefit from dental sealants?

Dental sealants are particularly beneficial for children and teenagers, as they are most susceptible to tooth decay in their molars and premolars. However, adults with deep grooves or pits in their teeth may also benefit from sealant application.

Your dentist can assess your oral health and recommend sealants if deemed appropriate for your individual needs.

How long do dental sealants last?

Dental sealants can last for several years with proper care. However, they may wear down over time due to chewing and normal wear and tear.

Your dentist will check the condition of your sealants during your regular dental check-ups and may recommend reapplication if necessary to maintain their effectiveness in preventing cavities.
